Yorgos Lanthimos, the creator of the highly-acclaimed Dogtooth continues his investigation into unhealthy, absurd relationships. This time, four people put themselves forward as stand-ins for the deceased. Grieving relatives can hire them as a deputy of the dead to soften their sorrow. This mysterious society call themselves 'Alps', a cryptic title so no-one knows anything about their activities. The initially innocent role-play becomes more and more intense, however. Lanthimos' regular screenwriter, Efthimis Filippou, excels in dry comic dialogues, which are spoken in an absolutely deadpan way by the flawed characters who become entangled in their own made-up game.
