EYE’s world-renowned collection is the result of years of careful acquisition, conservation and restoration. The entire history of film from 1895 up to today is represented in the EYE collection, from silent films to the newest digital productions, from old film journals and company films to contemporary experimental films.
Watch films of your choice at EYE
Upon request, you can hire films from EYE’s collection and watch them in one of the EYE auditoriums. EYE has DVDs or videos available for nearly 4,000 titles in its collection. A list of these titles on DVD and video is available in the library; these films can be screened in one of the video booths located in the library. For inquiries regarding hiring films from EYE’s distribution collection, please contact the Distribution department.
Ordering films for professional use
EYE can provide copies of material from its film collection for professional users (filmmakers, programmers, producers, journalists, scholars, and staff members at museums and universities). Both film excerpts and complete films can be ordered in any video or film format. Delivery time is at least one week. In cases where EYE does not hold the copyright to the ordered materials, permission should be obtained directly from the copyright owner.
Due to copyright regulations, EYE cannot provide private individuals with copies of films from its collection.
