E*Cinema is a crossover between film and other art forms; it challenges you to look beyond the boundaries of genres, of the observation, or of the medium itself. In the new EYE building E*Cinema has been extended. We explore new film horizons by experimenting with different forms of presentation. Experimental films are accompanied by new, often improvised music. Depending on the type of screening, there is a dance performance, a theatrical monologue, vj, or a filmmaker gives a masterclass about his or her work.
E*Cinema focuses on different themes, styles, artists and filmmakers. From experimental films in search of the contemporary or that complement the current exhibition, to student films, national/international premières and experimental film classics.
E*Cinema is divided into E*cinema Special and E*Cinema Première. From September E*Cinema will also include screenings in cooperation with academies and universities. More information will follow in the summer.
E*Cinema Special complements the current EYE exhibition or further explores current issues in the arts or society. These Specials may last several days and include lectures, debates and performances as well as film.
E*Cinema Première will announce new talent, with international and Dutch premières and lots of new work from festivals.
