Jay Weissberg: film historian and critic at the helm of leading silent film festival

5 October 2015

At the end of the 34th edition of the leading festival for silent films (3-11 October), David Robinson, festival director since 1997, will pass on the baton to Jay Weissberg. Film critic David Robinson was born in England in 1930. The former Edinburgh Film Festival director and Chaplin biographer is also a familiar face in EYE.

In addition to attending several public events (such as the opening of the Desmet exhibition), he also visited EYE’s collection every year to view and select films. The American film historian and critic for Variety Jay Weissberg, too, is a habitué of EYE. He was a regular visitor of the former Film Biennales and was also a guest the The Color Fantastic conference last March.

We wish Jay Weissberg and David Robinson every success and are looking forward to continue working together.
