The students make a movie by taking 200 photos and then playing them back in sequence at an accelerated speed. From one photo to the next, they can profoundly change the picture, as they learn how this technique can make everything come alive: objects and people can disappear, transform, suddenly start moving, or appear out the thin air.
In this workshop, students discover the magic of animation. Inspired by film material from the rich collection of Eye, they together make a stop-motion film.
The workshop can be adapted to every level of secondary education. Older students are challenged to combine multiple animation styles while the younger students focus on the magical basic techniques. The programme is in line with core objectives 48, 50, 51 and 52.
