What is film

What is film really? Where did the first films come from and why did people start making films?

Eye has developed a free information folder to answer such questions.
What is film is intended to learn more about the film phenomenon. It describes film in short and is intended as an introduction to all facets of the rich medium of film: how film is made, the film language and the history of film. You will also find tips on how to use film in an educational setting at the back of the folder.

There is also a youth edition of What is film that young people between the ages of 9 and 12 can work with independently. The information leaflet can be used for speaking engagements or papers about film. The folder explains how film is made. It also examines the optical tricks and the various experiments that ultimately led to the invention of film. At the back of the brochure, you will find tips to get started with film yourself. The sometimes complicated matter about the effect of film is explained in clear language.
