It is our pleasure to share with you some highlights from recent Eye exhibitions. Since 2012, when Eye opened its doors overlooking the River IJ, the Filmmuseum has presented four exhibitions each year in its large exhibition space.

Exhibitions about makers who operate outside the confines of the movie theatre and Hollywood system. Exhibitions about filmmakers and artists who dissect the language of cinema, turn it inside out and confound expectations. Exhibitions that look at important film auteurs, at the history and future of experimental cinema, at interesting and relevant cinematic themes, and at pioneering ‘crossover’ artists who explore the intersection of visual art and film.

Each week we will fill this ‘dossier’ with interesting documentaries, recordings and interviews made for the exhibitions we have presented since 2012. And we will look ahead to the exhibition about Chantal Akerman, which, we hope, can open in the near future.
