Over the course of 12 days, IDFA is once again celebrating the creative documentary in the heart of Amsterdam. The festival is screening over 300 documentaries, ranging from the latest films from all over the world to carefully selected classics.
The program is divided into three categories. The competitions (marked in blue in the program magazine and on the IDFA website) showcase IDFA’s discoveries: the best new films that are having their European or World Premiere at the festival.
The annual non-competitive sections (marked in green) include the best new films by the grand masters of documentary and the cream of the crop from the international festival circuit.
While these two main sections give a birds-eye view of today’s world, theme programs (marked in orange) ask how we look at the world, questioning the documentary genre in various ways.
