Q&A with director Remy van Heugten
Lei is a fifty-something lowlife, whose biggest fear is to loose his son Jeffrey’s esteem. When Jeffrey discovers his father is indebted to a charismatic gangster, he does what any loving son would do: he considers his father’s debt his own. A fiction film, Glückauf (the mineworker’s greeting wishing a safe return) is a social drama about the choking love between a father and a son, who as modern outlaws are trying to stay alive in today’s impoverished Limburg.
