Cinedans - Retrospective Maya Deren

Maya Deren (1917-1961 RU/US) was a dancer, pioneering filmmaker, anthropologist and musicologist. Exemplary for her work is her three-minute film A Study in Choreography for Camera (1944), which she calls 'choreo-cinema': choreography for dance and film. Her work is still relevant to the dance film genre as a whole.

For this special, we curated some of her best works in collaboration with Eye. After the programme, we invite you to stay for a panel discussion with Zeynep Gündüz (dance scientist), Maria Ines Viillasmil (independent dancer, choreographer & researcher) and others.
