Cinedans - The Body as Archive

The Body as Archive investigates role of the dancer, who creates, accumulates and carries choreographic knowledge. Where is this knowledge stored and what do dancers explore through their dance practice?  What’s the difference between a dancer’s body and a non-dancer’s body? To what extent can this knowledge be made accessible and conveyed?

Together with visual artist and filmmaker Darko Dragičević, director Michael Maurissens made an exceptional documentary - with contributions from experts from the fields of brain research, anthropology and dance, and footage of dancers’ rehearsals and interviews.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Hanneke Koolen, Chair of the Dutch Society for Dance Research. Preceding the screening, you will see five portraits made by Jasmijn Schrofer and Biserka Šuran, commissioned by ICK.
