Cinema Stadsleven: The Man Machine

During the film+talkshow Cinema Stadsleven on Oct. 24th, EYE film will show a number of clips from its rich collection. In between them, host Tracy Metz will talk with four guests about our fear and fascination for robots and how we will relate to them in the future.

  • Robert Went, economist at the Scientific Council for Government Policy, is now working on a sequel to the Council’s report ‘De Robot de baas’. In it, the Council advocates an ‘inclusive robot agenda’ – but also warns that not everyone will be able to keep up.
  • Josje Verbeeten, director of the Robot Academy and Ine Gevers, artistic director of the exhibition ‘Robot Love’. With the slogan ‘Smart robots, smarter people’ the Academy teaches businesses and employees how to work with robots. Fear is a poor counsellor. ‘Robot Love brings art and technology together to show how our relationship to robots and robotica is changing – and how it is changing us.
  • Hendrik-Jan Grievink of the Next Nature Network addresses the results of the interaction between man, nature and technology. They are now so intertwined that a new kind of nature has arisen: Next Nature.
