Cinemini: Mannetje Tak

EYE’s Cinemini is open especially for preschoolers and their parents. Every Sunday, children aged 2 to 6 are treated to animated films and can play with their parents close by.

Children aged 2-6 experience their first cinema visit in EYE’s finest and cosiest film theatre. After watching special short animated films, often from EYE’s own rich collection, the children are invited to experiment with light and shadow in small play tents and on a large light box supervised by De Taartrovers (The Pie Robbers, a small collective organizing interactive cultural activities for kids).

Today:

Mannetje Tak, a wonderful animated film featuring the voice of Arjan Ederveen.
Mannetje Tak (Stick Man) is a living wooden stick with eyes, a nose, a mouth, arms and legs. A cheerful family man, he lives in a hollow tree with his wife and three kids. One morning he wakes up early and decides to go for a stroll. Not a wise thing to do, because not everybody can tell what he is: a living being. And so he’s picked up by a playful dog, by a young girl that throws him in the river and by a swan that wants to use him to build a nest. All very well, but Stick Man just wants to go home to his family. Each time, however, someone messes things up for him. The seasons pass and Stick Man even finds himself briefly on fire! Just when he’s about to give up, Santa Clause comes to his rescue.

Mannetje Tak was adapted from the popular children’s book by British author Julia Donaldson and German illustrator Axel Scheffler. Together they created the modern classics The GruffaloThe Snail and the Whale and Stick Man

For all those who love the film adaptations of The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child, this episode of Cinemini is not to be missed!
