Staten Island, New York, mid-1980s. Frankie, a Vietnam war veteran, is trying to survive in impossible circumstances. Tormented by nightmares and violent memories, he is fast heading for ruin. Frankie’s caustic comments on his private road to hell recall Travis Bickle’s in Taxi Driver. Giovinazzo’s feature film debut is screened in Shell Shock, Eye’s programme on coping with traumas.
