Fanny & Alexander

Watching a five-hour classic by a master of cinema from the comfort of your cinema seat? It’s happening on 14 July, Ingmar Bergman's birthday, when Eye screens the integral version of Fanny & Alexander. Bergman’s disguised reflection on his youth is hailed as one of the absolute highlights of the Swedish filmmaker’s wide-ranging career. The integral TV version is screened in a restored print by the Swedish Film Institute.

English subtitles, shown with an intermission.

Lumière distributors released the original, restored TV series in a DVD box set together with two documentaries offering fascinating stories about Bergman in front of and behind the camera. The box set is also available from the Eye Shop.
