Il grido

Antonioni’s neo-realist past still resonates in his fifth feature film.

For the role of mechanical engineer Aldo who has been deserted by his wife, however, the Italian master chose an American B-actor, Steve Cochran. The desolate shots of Aldo wandering with his little daughter through the Po Valley are as impressive now as they were then. Film programme to accompany the Antonioni exhibition ‘Il maestro del cinema moderno’.
