We all know the classic images of the revolutionary year 1968: students throwing bricks, workers on strike, Jean-Paul Sartre shouting into a megaphone, but also Soviet tanks entering Prague. Documentary maker João Moreira Salles mixes the public past with extraordinary, personal footage, made by his mother in Beijing in 1966, the first year of Mao’s Cultural Revolution.
