Although Jan Švankmajer is these days widely known and acknowledged as one of the most original and authentic international artists, many aspects of his life and work have still remained untouched and unexplored. The study Dimensions of Dialogue/Between Film and Fine Art (2012) by Bertrand Schmitt and Frantisek Dryje aimed to fill that gap. In a set of articles and essays illuminated with rich visuals, they sought to describe a wonderfully rich and coherent, distinctive and unique universe of the artist.

Through a rapid journey amongst Svankmajer’s films, artworks and texts, Schmitt's presentation will try to show several interconnections between them in order to explain the transmutation of senses that Jan Svankmajer is looking for.
