Leedvermaak

A well-off couple organizes a wedding party for their only child. Resentment, memories of the Holocaust, jealousy and frustrations wreck the evening. The film picked up three Golden Calves, for Best Actor (Pierre Bokma), Best Actress (Annet Nieuwenhuyzen) and Best Director (Frans Weisz).

Also screening on 18 February are Weisz’ Leedvermaak (1989) and Qui vive (2001), starring the same cast (Pierre Bokma, Annet Nieuwenhuijzen, Kitty Courbois, Rijk de Gooyer, Peter Oosthoek, Catherine ten Bruggencate, Sigrid Koetse).

Frans Weisz - Filming is wonderful

To mark the premiere of Frans Weisz’ adaptation of Campert's novel Het leven is vurrukkulluk, EYE builds a programme around the films of one of the Netherlands’ most prominent filmmakers of the past fifty years.
