Sonic Acts, festival for contemporary and historical developments at the intersection of art, technology, music and science, looks at its shared history with Ikeda, and looks ahead to its festival in the spring of 2019. The evening's programme will be conducted in English.
Tatsuru Arai: Matters-ton (Hyper Serial Music) (live performance, 30-40 min)
Tatsuru Arai (1981) studied composition at Tokyo College of Music and continued with MA-studies Composition, Computer-programming & Multimedia art at the Academy of Music in Berlin. Arai’s live audiovisual performance Matters-ton is the 2nd chapter of his ongoing project Hyper Serial Music, in which he expands classical means related to the history of Serial Music, the significant 20th-century movement in music headed by Arnold Schönberg, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Pierre Boulez. In Matters-ton, Tatsuru Arai presents his own innovations of 3 principles of Serialism: ‘structural’, ‘complex’ and ‘noisy’.
