The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão

Rio de Janeiro, 1950. Eighteen-year old Eurídice and twenty-year-old Guida are inseparable as sisters, but one of them attracts the lasting wrath of the family. Karim Aïnouz’ latest feature film is an evocative exploration of patriarchal Brazil in the 1950s, shot in sparkling and enigmatic images.  Winner of the 2019 Un Certain Regard award at Cannes.

Aïnouz also directed the HBO series Alice; his short films and installations were featured at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the São Paulo Biennale.
