EYE’s Cinemini opens especially for preschoolers and their parents. Every Sunday morning (except for the summer holiday period), children aged 2 to 6 are treated to a film, followed by experiments with light and shadow in small play tents.
EYE’s Cinemini theatre is a great environment for children to run around in safely. The films are shown with the lights dimmed and the sound turned down for their comfort. The children are supervised during play and parents can watch them have fun while enjoying a cup of coffee.
Admission €5 per child and €7,50 per adult. A lap child ticket for an adult with child costs € 11,00, offering you a discount of €1,50.
Please note: there will be no Cinemini screening on October 22nd.
EYE’s finest and most intimate film theatre is a great place for children aged 2 to 6 to experience their first cinema visit. Every Sunday from 10.30-11.00, EYE’s Cinemini theatre presents outstanding short films and animations, often from EYE’s own rich collections.
All screenings are briefly introduced by De Taartrovers (The Pie Robbers, a small collective organizing interactive cultural activities for kids). Cinemini kicks off in March with Boo and Baa have Company and the award-winning animation film Rabbit and Deer. A new film will be scheduled every two weeks. Cinemini is a collaboration between EYE and De Taartrovers.
Playing with Light and Shadow
After the screening, kids are invited by De Taartrovers to play with light and shadow in small play tents and on a large lightbox.
In this intimate lightscape children can explore how light creates shadow images. Where does an image come from, how does it disappear into thin air, become larger or smaller or takes on different shapes? What sort of stories do they inspire in children? What do they see in these shapes?
For adults, shadow is something ordinary, but for children, a shadow may be a magical thing turning grown-ups into giants.
Admission and access
EYE’s bar-restaurant is open for coffee, tea or a light breakfast for the parents. Admission for children is €7,50, including lemonade. Admission for parents, grandparents and other companions is €5,00 per person.
