The Gaze

LGBT film classics in EYE

The Gaze is a series produced by EYE in collaboration with Roze Filmdagen (Pink Film Days). The Gaze presents films made for or by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community (LGBT) that have shaped film history.

Every two months, EYE will be showcasing controversial – or formerly controversial – classic and modern films from what was once known as the sexual ‘counterculture’. The series includes both 1920s vintage Swedish gay porn in black and white and works by filmmakers like Kenneth Anger, Jean Genet, Barbara Hammer, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Todd Haynes.

All screenings are preceded by a stimulating pre-programme featuring introductions by prominent filmmakers, actors or film specialists. Drinks are served in EYE bar after the performance. All films are from EYE’s own collections and are projected on the original celluloid format (16 and 35mm). The Gaze: gay film classics in EYE.
