10s Across the Borders
Sze-Wei Chan / PH, SG, DEUZE, 2025 / 99 min.
3 trailblazers in the underground ballroom scenes of Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines take us into the heart of their communities as we follow their journeys to build a flourishing queer community across Southeast Asia.

3 trailblazers in the underground ballroom scenes of Southeast Asia take
us into the heart of their communities. Teddy from Malaysia, Sun from Thailand, and Xyza from the Philippines each grapple with their individual stories of discrimination and resistance. In the world of ballroom dancing, they are trailblazers who have found new families and built safe havens for queer life to thrive unabated and bodies to express themselves freely.
7 years in the making, the film is an
intimate portrait and a defiant celebration of ballroom culture as it travels from its origins in New York’s Black and Latinx queer communities, which Teddy and Xyza visit and learn from, to its global imprint in Southeast Asia. A collaborative effort between filmmaker and protagonists, 10s Across the Borders celebrates queer life at its most vibrant and resilient, one walk at a time
