Wong Kar Wai / FR, DE, HK, 2004 / 129 min.

Writer Chow (Tony Leung), the protagonist of In the Mood for Love, is working on a science fiction novel in a Hong Kong hotel. He’s trying to forget the love of his life by having one affair after another. Completely stylised, nostalgic sci-fi film.

Chow’s countless failed relationships with women form the inspiration for the futuristic love story he’s trying to write. Wong Kar Wai's loose follow-up to In the Mood for Love combines that film’s wistful romantic desire with dizzying jumps in time and a science-fiction twist.
