Her latest film is already being compared to the work of major Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray. All We Imagine as Light depicts the dreams of two women who have moved to the metropolis Mumbai for work. Portrays a 21st-century city of millions.
Kapadia’s first feature-length film follows the daily lives and concerns of Prabha and Anu, two Hindu women from the south-western state of Kerala. Both have moved to Mumbai to work as nurses: Prabha is married, but her husband lives works in Germany and hardly contacts her, the younger Anu is looking for her own space so she can spend time with her boy friend a Muslim.
