Ansuya Blom / NL, 1989 / 14 min.
In 1972 Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin recorded her live album Amazing Grace together with the Southern California Community Choir at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles. Filmmaker Sydney Pollack directed a film about Franklin’s sensational return to the roots of her career, gospel music. Sunday night, the 3rd of November, with Skype interview (in English) with director Alan Elliott moderated by film journalist Peter de Bruijn.

After Franklin”s death in August 2018 co-director Elliott received permission from Franklin”s next of kin to release the film. Was it worth the long wait? To quote the review of The Guardian: 'Hallelujah, yes!'
