Annelieke Holland - Junction of the Eyes

Keep an Eye 2023: Annelieke Holland

Theatre- and filmmaker Annelieke Holland performs her personal archives and examines gestures of recording and the embodiment of looking through an extended-cinema presentation.

Acts of recording, framing, observing, the act of posing, staging, receiving one's look and the act of spectating are all explored as gestures that contribute equally to the meaning of images. Through this combined performance and screening by Annelieke Holland, what gets revealed is not necessarily the image itself, but the relation that emerges between the one producing and the one receiving it.

In ‘Junction of the Eyes’ theatre- and filmmaker Annelieke Holland explores performative modes of image making. Movement practises, family archives and photographs from a past relationship, all become material to investigate acts of looking and recording. By doing so, Annelieke revisits memories, intimate relations and cultural sites for spectatorship. All through the lens of giving and receiving gazes.

Part of the Artistic Research Week: researchers of the Master of Film at the Nederlandse Filmacademie present their final exam work.
