In 1970, the young, first-time director Dario Argento (Deep Red, Suspiria) put his indelible stamp on Italian cinema with The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, that reinvented the classic in ‘giallo' genre of stylish murder mystery thrillers and catapulted him to eternal fame.
