Bronenosets Potyomkin

Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein / SUHH, 1925 / 75 min.

Odessa 1905, all’s not well in the Russian Empire. The crew of battleship Potemkin rebel against their officers. The population of Odessa comes to the aid of the sailors, the Czar’s troops open fire, a pram hurtles down the steps…  Sergei Eisenstein’s propaganda film celebrating the Russian Revolution of 1905 is still regarded as an emblem of avant-garde cinema. Thijs Havens accompanies the film with an equally riveting electronic score.
