A beautiful, hand-drawn animation feature about Martha Jane Cannary, a young girl who grew into the legendary ‘Calamity’ Jane. Martha Jane is a strong-willed heroine with a mind of her own in the days of the Wild West. Calamity opened the 2020 Cinekid film festival.

America, 1863. 12-year-old Martha Jane moves West with her family and numerous others in search of a better life. When her father is wounded, she has to take care of her little sisters and learn to drive the family wagon. She is given a hard time because she is a girl, but Martha is tough and won’t give in. But then she is wrongly accused of theft. To prove she is innocent, she gets caught up in all kinds of adventures, showing that girl power began with her!
