Charade
Stanley Donen / US, 1963 / 113 min.
Stanley Donen’s parody of Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest is a game of misdirection and false identity. Audrey Hepburn is stunning as the widow of a thief who is said to have squirreled away a fortune. Cary Grant comes to her aid; Hepburn gets the one-liners.

Regina Lampert (Hepburn) is besieged on all sides after her husband, a professional burglar, dies. Everyone wants to know where he hid the money. Charming stranger Peter Joshua (Grant) comes to her aid, but can he be trusted? FBI agent Bartholemew (Walter Matthau) is not convinced. In this cleverly written crime comedy, Hepburn outsmarts all the men.
