Director Noel Marshall wanted to film the story of Hank, a man who prefers to live with wild cats, chimps and elephants. When his family comes to visit Hank”s out, but the animals are in and provide a warm welcome to Hank”s wife and kids…Seventy crew members were injured, some seriously, during the production of the film, which has been described as the “most expensive home movie ever”. Both Marshall”s wife Tippi Hedren (the well-known Hitchcock actress), Hedren”s daughter Melanie Griffith and camera man Jan de Bont were mauled by lions, tigers and panthers. De Bont was almost scalped and needed 220 stitches to be patched up.

The film was rereleased in the US in the spring of this year. EYE now presents a one-off screening, which is introduced by cult and cat lover Ronald Simons (Dutch spoken). Viewers can visit a special photo booth to take home an appropriate souvenir. The copy shown is from EYE”s collection. See facebook.com/cinemeowfilm
