Cinemini: Mijn huis

Children aged 2-6 can get their first taste of film in Eye’s finest and most intimate film theatre. After watching the special (animated) films, often from Eye’s rich collection, they are invited to play with light and shadow in small play tents and on a large lightbox, supervised by the Taartrovers (the Pie robbers, a collective specialised in interactive cultural activities for children). Today: colourful films about houses.

Your home is your own space, snug, safe and comfortable. Every house is different, though, as are the houses in the films featured in this cheerful, poetic and colourful programme.

The Little Seed (Chaïtane Conversat, FR 2015)A little girl lives on her own in a small house. Every night ants lift up her house and move it to a new place. The little girl collects gorgeous flower patterns from the fields around her house and sews them into dresses. One day, a little seed drops into her mouth from the air. She swallows it and the next thing she knows a flower grows out of her belly button! A poetic film with a beautiful drawing style and vibrant colours.

Once Upon a Time There Was a House (Svetlana Andrianova, RU 2017)A towering apartment block is being built, the tallest in the entire world. It”s an apartment building with lots of small apartments in its belly. What adventures lie in store for this tall building? Snowstorms, airplanes, the metro underground. There”s a lot to see and enjoy in this short film.

A Little Star (Svetlana Andrianova, RU 2015)A little star lives in the sky among the clouds with its Mummy-Moon. One evening it happens to tumble down to earth. Everyone thinks the little star is really sweet and oh so beautiful, and they all want to keep it. What about the little star, though, what does it want? It wants to go home, to Mummy. Fortunately, Mummy-Moon knows exactly what to do.

Eye’s finest and most intimate film theatre is a great place for children aged 2 to 6 to experience their first cinema visit. Every Sunday morning, Eye’s Cinemini opens especially for preschoolers and their (grand)parents, where children are treated to a film, followed by experiments with light and shadow in small play tents.
