This winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Film is still the highlight of Dutch cinema history. His entire life, Anton Steenwijk has been obsessed by who was to blame for an attack outside the neighbour’s house during World War II. The ultimate 35mm, Liberation Day classic, now back in cinemas.

Towards the end of World War II, the resistance attack an NSB [Dutch Nazi party] member. 12-year old Anton Steenwijk watches as the neighbours move the body to outside his house. As revenge for the attack, the Germans murder Anton’s family. This traumatic event never leaves him.
