Andrei Tarkovski / SUHH, 1974 / 108 min.
In the dreamy, Mirror, Andrej Tarkovski’s most personal film, the Russian filmmaker forges childhood memories, news footage and poetry by his father Arseni into a true cinematic poem. Film selected by artist Guido van der Werve for his retrospective at Eye.

During a nervous breakdown, the lead relives his youth generating images of his beloved mother, grandmother (played by Tarkovski’s mother), his first love and his childhood home.
The screening of The Mirror on 10 May follows a film lecture (19:15) by Barbara London, founder of the MoMA’s video collection. London will contextualise Guido van der Werve’s work in the context of international film and video art.
