De toverlantaarn workshop

In the workshop for children aged 5-12 every child makes its own magic lantern figure which are then projected on a big screen with a real magic lantern. They tell their own stories to go with the images they’ve made.

Lichtbende tutu 0381

A long time ago there was no film or video, and no TV to watch or cinema to go to like we do now. Back then people liked watching magic lantern performances together. Lichtbende creates modern performances using magic lantern projections and live music. Lichtbende does not use traditional magic lantern images but selects instead ordinary objects and materials like plastic bottles, plastic cutlery, beads, button, yarn and bubble wraps. They use these small and familiar objects to make mini dolls or objects that can be projected by the magic lantern. It”s an entertaining and thrilling event for kids. When they discover you can conjure up an entire castle with nothing but candy wrappers, they all get that look of wonder on their faces. Realizing that the images are made with familiar materials stirs their imagination and creativity and makes them want to do the same. This workshop is where they can let their imagination run free! For a complete experience, go and see the magic lantern performance TuTu after the workshop.
