Die Büchse der Pandora
Georg Pabst / DEUZE, 1928 / 135 min.
Adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s famous play about the destructive sides of seduction featuring Louise Brooks in the lead and accompanied live by The West Side Trio.

Lulu wants everyone to lust after her and gets to pick and choose herself: one meeting will however become fatal. Pabst has Louise Brooks revel in her role as a vamp, in his adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s famous play about the destructive side of seduction. With her angular bob haircut and emancipated attitude, Brooks became the icon of the Roaring Twenties.
The film is digitally restored by the Deutsche Kinemathek in cooperation with other film archives.
West Side Trio
With wood, voice, strings, cables, amplifiers and effect pedals they defy musical categorization, creating a world of their own.
They compose and improvise everything from soft sweet melodies to groovy distorted electronic noise.
West Side Trio is: Vera van der Bie (violin, fx, vocals), Rani Kumar (viola, fx, vocals) and Annie Tangberg (cello, fx, vocals). Classically trained, experienced in jazz and pop music and always looking for new sounds.
