Rúnar Rúnarsson / IS, 2019 / 79 min.
This Icelandic ensemble film shows in 56 meticulously edited scenes how the island is getting ready for the Christmas celebrations: with a farm on fire, a mother arguing with her ex-husband, a school choir singing a Christmas carol. Director Rúnar Rúnarsson deftly alternates between the sad and the comic and created a bittersweet portrait of postmodern society.
