Een fotograaf filmt Amsterdam (A Photographer films Amsterdam) (NL 1982) 58”
In the summer of 1982 Van der Elsken traversed Amsterdam on foot, by car and by airplane to document his native city and its residents. With a camera mounted to a rollbar on his Mini Moke buggy, he filmed the centre of town in slow motion and accelerated the footage when he edited the film. A colourful parade of Amsterdammers walks by, playfully challenged by the photographer who knows how to draw out punkers, the elderly, buskers, Hell”s Angels and tramps. The voice-over is vintage van der Elsken.
