Een vrouw als Eva
Nouchka van Brakel / NL, 1979 / 104 min.
Monique van de Ven and Maria Schneider fall for each other in the sun-drenched South of France. Nouchka van Brakel is the first female filmmaker in the Netherlands to have made feature films in which women play a key role.
Eva (Monique van de Ven), the young mother of two children, travels to France at her spouse’s suggestion to recharge. In the sunny south, she meets lesbian Liliane (Schneider) who lives in a commune. There’s an unexpected spark between the two which does not remain without consequences. When Liliane visits Eva in the Netherlands, Eva decides to leave her grumpy husband Ad. Peter Faber plays her rejected spouse. Judith Herzberg co-wrote the script.
