Paul Verhoeven / FR, BE, DEUZE, 2016 / 130 min.
It was the triumphant return of Paul Verhoeven following Black Book (2006). As for Isabelle Huppert, who completely dominates the film, she once again demonstrated her astonishing talent. Though Elle did not collect any awards it was a hit at Cannes, where it made a great impression as a psychological, at times acerbically comic drama about a woman who coolly bides her time to take revenge after she has been raped.
