Programme

  • still Onvoltooid tegenwoordig (Johan van der Keuken, NL 2001)

Onvoltooid tegenwoordig (Johan van der Keuken, NL 2001, 10')

Johan van der Keuken died in January 2001 and this is the first part of his uncompleted longer documentary swansong. A rapid-fire, rhythmic montage of footage of friends and acquaintances.

  • still Éloge de l'amour (Jean-Luc Godard, FR/CH/DE 2001)

    Éloge de l'amour (Jean-Luc Godard, FR 2001, 97')

Éloge de l'amour is a diptych. The first half is set in Paris, was filmed in glorious 35mm black and white and revolves around a young director (Bruno Putzulu) preparing a project about ‘the four stages of love’. The second is set two years prior, was filmed in fauvist digital colours and sees the director visit an elderly couple who fought in the resistance and sold their story to a Hollywood producer.

Both films screened on 35mm from the Eye collection.
