Cavalcanti’s poetic tale of a love affair between a sailor and a waitress was first screened in the Netherlands at an evening hosted by the famous Film Liga (1927-1933), a collective of filmmakers and film pioneers that advocated an innovative cinema. With live musical accompaniment by Martin de Ruiter’s Capitol Trio.
