Eye on Sound: Earth (Zemlya)

This masterfully designed silent propaganda film from Stalinist Russia depicts the struggle of heroic peasants against ideologically contemptible landowners. Andrei Tarkovsky had a deep admiration for the filmmaker Alexander Dovzhenko, and made a habit of watching Earth every time he embarked on a new film. Eye music programmers Martin de Ruiter and Thijs Havens have created a new score for Earth which they will perform live.

Tales of the Future

What would remain of Blade Runner if you take away Vangelis’ synthesizers? Or try to imagine Tarkovsky’s SF classic Solaris without the electronic score. With Tales of the Future, Eye focuses on the impact of the synthesizer on film music and sound design.
