Eyeshadow: Akira + Yung Nnelg

Tokyo, 2019. An enormous explosion has laid to waste the mega-metropolis and rivalling biker gangs rule the streets. Motor devils Tetsuo and Kaneda stand their own in their battle with the Clowns gang: Tetsuo has a destructive talent he can”t control – the military and science turn him into the perfect destruction machine able to annihilate Neo Tokyo.

nuclear bomb

Akira was the first film to introduce the beauty of Japanese animation (anime) to Western cinema audiences. The compelling story of Japan”s nuclear bomb trauma, the superb animation and the unique industrial soundtrack made the film a classic.

someone to look out for

The screening is followed by a show by rapper Yung Nnelg, who grew up in Amsterdam”s Bijlmer district and made a name for himself with the rap collectives Veldentaal and SMIB. “Fox P2” is the title of his solo debut album, to be followed later this year by the EP “Serena”. Nnelg made a great impression at the key festivals Best Kept Secret, Woo Hah! and Appelsap. Continually searching for new styles, he”s someone to look out for!
