Eyeshadow: Blood Simple + Kitchenette

A classic and a happening band: this edition of EyeShadow features a show by Kitchenette to follow the screening of the recent 4K restoration of Blood Simple, the feature film debut of the illustrious Coen brothers. A clumsy private eye does what he can to murder a two-timing wife (Francis McDormand). The five-strong band Kitchenette follows up with sumptuous synths and chorus guitars.

Blood Simple is a darkly comic low-budget thriller about a man who hires an impossibly dumb detective to get rid of his unfaithful wife. It is also the feature film debut of brilliant actress Frances McDormand (Fargo), who married director Joel Coen shortly afterwards. The brothers directed, edited and produced the film themselves and also managed to attract renowned cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld for their debut. Dutch premiere of the 4K restoration.

perfect

Kitchenette is a project by Bosnian-born singer and guitarist Chris O. Kikić. The band”s sound is in line with bands like The War On Drugs, Kurt Vile and The Raveonettes. The sumptuous synths and chorus guitars make it the perfect music for long drives. The vocals and instrumentals are ingeniously twisted – like the plotlines of a film by Joel and Ethan Coen.
