Eyeshadow: True Romance + Délage and the Togetherness

A film followed by a live performance: every month Eyeshadow presents a high-profile modern classic with a striking soundtrack. Cool and thrilling films with live performances that resonate with the film. Tonight: True Romance, followed by lo-fi pop played by Délage and The Togetherness.

Tony 'Top Gun' Scott (director) and Quentin Tarantino (who delivered his first script) got into top gear for this über-hip chase film involving a prostitute, a Kung Fu film aficionado and a comic book shop assistant who has Elvis Presley on his brain (having worked in a video rental shop himself, Tarantino was able to draw on his own fond memories for the latter role). True Romance flopped when it was released, but turned into a major cult film, not in the least because it has Gary Oldman in dreadlocks and other showstopping performances by Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, and Brad Pitt as a couch-surfing stoner.

German singer-songwriter Délage, who is currently living in Amsterdam, will perform live with his band The Togetherness. His album Délage A.K.A.Loverboy Beatface features some true heartbreak songs: genuine lo-fi pop to swoon away to.
