Fiaker Nr. 13
Michael Curtiz / AT, DEUZE, 1926
Most film lovers remember Michael Curtiz as the director of Casablanca, the classic film starring Bogey and Bergman. Before he left for Hollywood, however, Curtiz was already a leading figure in the cinema of Central Europe. For the deliciously sweet Cab No. 13 – about a forlorn waif who finds happiness in the end – Curtiz based himself on a romantic novel by the French aristocrat Xavier de Montépin. Hilde Nash accompanies on the piano.
