Gone with the Wind, the almost four-hour long film starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh as ill-fated lovers, is a genuine classic. Based on the novel of the same name by Margaret Mitchell, the film supplied “the most memorable American movie quotation of all time” according to the American Film Institute.The film won ten Oscars, including Academy Awards for Best Film, Director, Photography, Leading Actress and Screenplay. The Oscar for Best Supporting Actress went to Hattie McDaniel, the first Afro-American actress to win an Academy Award.
